Flint Institute of Arts

I left early Saturday morning for a day trip to the Flint Institute of Arts which was closed when I got there so I explored nearby downtown Flint for a while. Clicking on photos will enlarge them.

Harry Bertoia - Untitled

Harry Bertoia scupted this piece by pouring bronze onto sand and then sculpting it with a long tool.

This "found art" was discovered on the beach of Lake Huron near my new home and reminded me of Harry Bertoia's Flint piece. I inserted it into a piece of driftwood from the same beach. Voila!

The storm last night brought high waves, torrential rain, and extremely strong winds which kept us all awake for many hours! However, there is perhaps a last bit of fall color as shown by this lingering volunteer rugosa rose bush.
