The Icelandic Sheepdog puppy born last April 2, 2012 named Thora is doing very nicely in her home with Wooki. It's been so nice to hear from the puppy owners on their six month birthdays!
(Remember, clicking on photos will enlarge them.)
If you look closely at the potted plant behind Thora and Wooki you can see some woebegone lemon grass; it seems both dogs like to grab some as they race by.
My dogs also like various greens from the backyard and some of my plants have that same browsed on look. (I can easily tell which plants are their favorites. They all love pulmonaria - lungwort.)
I wonder if all Icelandics are like that. Makes sense! Out in the wilds of Iceland Icelandic Sheepdogs forage to supplement their diets while watching their sheep - - I've been told.
Thora is now weighing in at about 18# which is normal for female puppies at about her age; male pups that age typically are larger and, of course, weigh more.
What a perfect way to spend your six month birthday - sleeping in the autumn sun! Notice how red she is in this photo.
Thora is eating well and is down to two meals a day, also normal. She goes through lots of training treats - which I absolutely love to hear. Giving Icelandic Sheepdogs a 'job' to do is helpful to their well-being and their feeling of being part of their family.
