Learning to Learn

The more you teach your puppies, the easier it is for them to learn new things. They "learn" the pattern. Dogs are problem solvers. Soon they will learn things even faster because they know there will be a treat at the end. I think our dogs learn as fast as or faster than any other breed. They pick up things easily. When do you stop treating when the dog does the right command? Never. You may decide not to reward as often, but you will always give them treats even when they are 'old' dogs. Kata started to learn agility when she was eight and a half years old. She still gets treats when she does the right obstacle at the age of ten. Here Soffia is learning that a musical doll is a fun thing to explore. Expose your new puppy to lots of sights, sounds, smells, experiences - and keep your bait bag handy so she will learn that these new experiences can be fun and rewarding. Talk to your dog. Lots. A well trained dog can learn hundreds of words
